November 17th, 2020 – Kettlebell Workshop by Stuart Klassen
7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Kettlebell Workshop – There are few fitness tools that can effectively develop cardiovascular conditioning, muscular strength, joint stability and most importantly, keep workouts fun. The kettlebell has significantly grown in popularity as a “must have”, whether it be in the gym or in the comfort of home. Kettlebells bring a versatility to training that we don’t see in traditional tools such as dumbbells and barbells. With a strong focus on controlled speed, power development and rotational movements, the kettlebell is approachable for the beginner yet technical and effective for the advanced exerciser.
This 90 minute workshop will start with learning the basic principles of the kettlebell, strength versus flow, and exploring the technical variations of grips and movements. The second part of the workshop will incorporate everything that was learned into a workout that we will perform together. Let’s explore together so that you can share this wonderful fitness tool with your participants, clients and yourself.
This workshop is mostly hands on. It is recommended that you have at least one kettlebell (8kg or lighter) for learning the techniques. A variety of heavier kettlebells will improve the experience but is not necessary.

December 2nd, 2020 – Mace/Club Workshop by Stuart Klassen
5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Mace / Club Workshop – There is a paradigm shift taking place in the fitness industry. Bicep curls just aren’t cutting it anymore. Bodybuilders don’t outnumber the rest of us. “Functional” training on every fitness ad points to a thirst for fun, versatile, cognitively stimulating exercise options. This is where maces and clubs come in. We can’t say “out with the old, in with the new” because these tools have been used in fitness for millennia. They have recently made a resurgence and started to get traction in the mainstream.
This 90 minute workshop will explore the benefits and basics of the steel mace and indian clubs. We will focus on the mace primarily, with a small demonstration of the clubs. Throughout the workshop, we will look at the traditional movements (360, 10&2, etc) and put together a flow sequence for you to practice at home.
A lighter mace (2.3kg – 4kg) is recommended in order to follow along and learn the movements, but not necessary. You will still learn a lot simply by observing. Most people are mistaken in thinking they don’t have enough space in their home to use the mace. You will need a ceiling approximately 2 feet taller than you for more than enough clearance.
