Power to the People: Cycle yourself strong! (1.25 CEC) / (1.25 PDC)

Muscle power, the ability of the muscles to generate speed while moving a load diminishes with age. Although power is the key component in most sports, it is also essential to being able to perform our daily activities and can affect balance, flexibility and endurance. Riding is a great way to improve lower body power. Work hard, have some fun and take your participants to a new level of strength improvements. Please bring headphones, a water bottle and a towel. Maximum of 16 people.

Stereotypes of Memory and Aging: Dispelling Myths (1.25 CEC) / (1.25 PDC)

The “traditional” view of memory and aging is that we inevitably develop memory deficits which in turn lead to negative stereotypes about older adults. The TRX training system also provides fantastic dynamic stretch work as is done in yoga and this is invaluable to maintaining functional range of motion for all of the joints of the body so one get strength core stability and flexibility training all in one session! This session will provide new and innovative intelligent training on the TRX and offer a myriad of exercise options from basic too more advanced.

Falls are a threat to the health of older adults and can reduce their ability to remain independent. It is estimated that 1 in 5 falls for a person over 65 results in a serious injury such as a broken bone or torn muscle (FOOSH – Fallen On Out Stretched Hand related damage.) Falls are the leading cause of hospitalization for this demographic. As a fitness leader, wouldn’t you love to help your participants improve their balance, coordination and proprioception? Providing your older adult participants with the strength and tools they need to do everything they can to prevent a life-changing fall.
