TRX Pilates Fusion
Try this unique fusion of TRX Suspension & Pilates Core training to achieve the ultimate workout! TRX Suspension training and Pilates are the perfect training partners as they both challenge core strength & stability while enhancing joint strength & postural awareness as well as improving functional range of motion through all movement planes of the body. You will learn how to translate classical Pilates exercises to the TRX Suspension System, this session will offer tons of great training ideas to take back to your individual workouts in addition to your TRX or Pilates classes.
MFC Active Older Adult Certification Coursework
Currently certified fitness leaders can expand their knowledge to teach Active Older Adults. This enhancement course teaches the physiological, biological and social changes affecting older adults. Principles will be applied to help you motivate and educate your older participants to develop strength, balance and coordination to improve active daily living skills.

Once you make the conscious decision to change your mind about who you are and what is possible for you to achieve within your life, you are opening yourself up to a new way of experiencing life by imagining exactly what you would like to manifest for yourself, retraining your subconscious mind, and refusing to allow the outer world or people to distract you from your intentions. For some of us, this requires us to be brave!

Understanding Back Pain (2.25 CEC) / (2.25 PDC)
Most of us will experience back pain at one time or another. This session will describe the anatomy of the back, types of back injuries as well as their prevention and treatment. We will look at the intervertebral disc, facets joints and supporting muscles in detail as well as the importance of good posture and core stabilization. Questions are welcomed.
Training for Obstacle Course Events (1.5 CEC) / (1.5 PDC)
Remember being a kid and hanging upside down from the monkey bars, climbing trees that you wouldn’t even dare to today. We tested our limits as children and organized obstacle courses are a way to do this for adults. These events are becoming more mainstream these days with more than 2.5 million completing them in 2015. Come and learn hands on techniques that will guide successful participation in any obstacle course event.
Bridging the Gap – “From exercise to medicine – connecting with primary care.” (2.25 CEC) / (2.25 PDC)
In this presentation and open discussion we will discuss the gap between the fitness industry and primary care. We will outline the needs of our profession in order to be recognized in the health care setting, as exercise is medicine! We will outline key strategies on coaching and communication resulting in dramatic improvements in retention and success of your clients.
A Discussion on Concussions (2.25 CEC) / (2.25 PDC)
Learn the mechanism of injury in concussions, the signs, symptoms and return to activity guidelines. Learn why they must be treated so seriously and how to be prevent and reduce the consequences of concussions. Gain a greater understanding of how & why accommodations are required for those who are recovering from a sport related concussion at school and work. Group discussion and interaction will be encouraged.
Meditative Movement (1.5 CEC) / (1.5 PDC)
With a calm heart and mind, one has greater capacity to learn and to heal. The inside and outside work together in T’ai Chi, a form of moving meditation. This Chinese art and science is proven to develop the body’s strength, length, and peace of mind, to name a few. It requires no equipment or special location, but intention is key. Experience some of the principles of T’ai Chi and learn how they can be put to use in daily life.
Voice Health (2.25 CEC) / (2.25 PDC)
Vocally demanding professions in the fitness field have particular challenges for the larynx (voice box). This session will provide fitness professionals with information and exercises to promote good vocal hygiene as well as strengthen and stretch the vocal mechanism.
Diastasis Recti and Pelvic Floor (2.25 CEC) / (2.25 PDC)
Abdominal separation does not just affect postpartum women, some men and women are born with an abdominal separation and others develop one due to activity or other injury/trauma to the area. Some literature states that as many as 45% of women have a diastasis recti 8 weeks postpartum. Learn some basics about diastasis recti, including anatomy and how diastasis recti affects the pelvic floor, diaphragm, Si joint, low back, hips and even your ability to breath correctly. We will provide knowledge and exercise modifications for people with this condition.
Combat Cardio Hip Hop (1.5 CEC) / (1.5 PDC)
Combat cardio hip is a fitness dance class. It was originally created to teach dance in physical education classes that could be enjoyable for all genders. However, it was later taught to an older audience as a fitness class as well. This style of fitness can be adapted to meet the needs of a variety of age, developmental and experience levels. It combines hip-hop, kickboxing and Zumba. It is typically done to upbeat songs used in Zumba or hip-hop music and includes hip-hop and kickboxing movements such as the dab, crip-walk, roundhouse kicks, punching and blocking.
